DHHS DECEMBER 2016 STATEWIDE MEETING

HACSU members at DHHS voted with massive support (98.5%) to take protected industrial action.  The protected action ballot received a record return and sends a very strong message of support for the campaign. Yesterday, HACSU DHHS members from across the state came together to discuss this important step in the fight for certainty.

This is the most important EBA in 20 years. This EBA will help set better service benchmarks for the industry when it comes to career pathways, professional development, staff retention and quality service delivery.

We need to campaign effectively and use our protected industrial action to ensure we maintain quality services and deliver strong workforce protections. Yesterday’s meeting resolved:

1. To authorise the immediate implementation of Phase 1 workplace protected industrial action in DHHS.
2. To authorise the State Secretary to escalate protected industrial action, including the phased implementation of other bans and stop-work action, in consultation with delegates/members, if no substantial progress is made in negotiations.
3. To authorise the State Secretary to call further meetings as necessary to support the campaign and keep members updated.
4. To call on all members to fully participate in the campaign by participating in local and regional activities and by supporting and sustaining the workplace industrial action as implemented.
