Congratulations to all HACSU Members!
The Victorian Disability Service (NGO) Agreement 2019 (MEA) has been approved by the Fair Work Commission and you have a new enterprise agreement!
This was a long, hard-fought campaign by HACSU and its members which was initiated at the end of 2016. Back in 2016, employers were worried about NDIS pricing and their ability to afford their businesses going forward.
HACSU were worried about cuts to our members long-standing and hard fought for terms and conditions. Many employers started talking about terminating old expired enterprise agreements and putting our members on the SCHADS Modern Award which would have resulted in a major cut to your terms and conditions.
This was unacceptable for HACSU’s hard working members who deserve much better than the SCHADS Modern Award.
But, with the assistance of former Fair Work Commissioner Julius Roe and some forward thinking employers, we were able to develop a fair agreement for our members which preserves many old entitlements for existing employees, plus new and better terms and conditions.
This agreement has only been won by union members like you who took action and fought for a better deal – well done to all members for your hard work, you did well!
A special thank you also goes out to the HACSU bargaining team comprised of Lloyd Williams, Kate Marshall, Mark Farthing and Elisa Dickenson who have been fighting hard for our members terms and conditions over the last 3 ½ years.
Quotes attributed to HACSU State Secretary Paul Healey:
“The hard work and tenacity of our members is how we get these tremendous outcome. Victoria is once again leading the way in the best possible outcome for people with disabilities”
