Do you often feel overwhelmed at work? Does the day pass you by in the blink of an eye? Here are five short tips on how you can use mindfulness to improve your workday.
When you're feeling overwhelmed, stop what you're doing and be more aware of your breathing. Take a few moments to listen to your own breathing, it's a simple way you can be more mindful.
Try to focus on one task at a time. We work in sectors that are extremely busy and don't give us the time to stop for long periods to think. One way to help you to be more mindful is to try to focus on one task at a time.
Being grateful can make us feel better. Sometimes your work day is stressful and it's hard to see any positives - but there's always something to be grateful for. It might be the delicious lunch that you just ate, or the union delegate who's always got your back!
Drink lots of a water - at least 8 glasses a day! And eat something that helps to energise you. Maybe talk to your colleagues about how you can share lunch duties to help everyone eat more healthily.
Maybe you haven't heard of the growth mindset before. It's having an attitude of belief that you can do it! People who have a fixed mindset will often think "this is all I can do". Changing to a mindset based on learning and positives can help you be more mindful.
