Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) is the Victorian No.2 Branch of the Health Services Union. HACSU is seeking a full time Membership Accounts Officer to work in the Union’s Melbourne Office.

 

HACSU is an industry based Union representing Mental Health Nurses, Health Professionals, Alcohol and other Drug, Workers, and Disability Support Workers, and other Direct Care and Support Staff in Victorian Mental health and Disability Services.

 

The priority of the Union is to grow the strength and the power of HACSU by advocating for and protecting the professional and industrial interests of all members.  This position will manage the HACSU membership account system.

 

Salary: 

HACSU provides an attractive salary and conditions, commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience.

 

Responsibilities and Requirements:

In this pivotal role, you will be the face of the Union assisting members with their membership fee payments.  You will display a professional, positive and focussed disposition and exhibit a flexible attitude where you enjoy assisting members, finding solutions, showing empathy but remaining firm in relation to membership fee payment and debt collection. The position requires performing other job-related duties as requested to ensure the goals and objectives of the union are met and involves close interaction with Finance Manager to minimise liability.

 

This opportunity requires excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills.

 

Role and Function

  • Pleasant disposition responding to members membership queries
  • Ability to answer calls professionally and efficiently with a high level of customer service to union members, including both written and verbal information and advice relation to union membership.
  • Maintenance and operation of membership database including
    • Creation of reports
    • Procession of all direct debits
    • Invoicing for the membership fees
    • Maintenance of the financial management system
    • Provision of high level reports
  • Proficient MS Office Skills with good comment of Excel and Mail Merge

 

Key Selection Criteria

  • It is desirable that the applicant is committed to the principles of the trade union movement and be comfortable working within a demanding environment.

·         Experience with an electronic membership database and its financial accounting systems with essential high accuracy and attention to detail.

·         Provision of accurate information and detailed reports.

·         Adherence to confidentiality in regard to Union activities and membership issues.

·         Complete activities within required timeframes.

  • Strong multi-tasking skills, a professional manner when dealing with internal and external contacts, excellent Microsoft Office skills and a can do, flexible attitude.
  • Be an extremely efficient and organised person who can manage themselves and their area.
  • Be energetic and capable to meet the demands of the position.
  • Professional approach to work with a particular emphasis on confidentiality and working with secure information.
  • Work well in a team as well as independently and interact effectively with a wide range of people (including Union officials, staff, employer groups, delegates and members).

 

The successful applicant will be appointed for a six months probationary period.  Ongoing employment is subject to satisfactory performance in the position.

The successful applicant shall participate in a performance appraisal process overseen by the State Secretary after six months service, at the conclusion of 12 months service and thereafter each subsequent 12 months, on termination of service and/or on request.
