Melbourne City Mission members' meeting this Friday

2022-05-23

Dear HACSU members at Melbourne City Mission,

We are writing regarding the recent announcement by Melbourne City Mission to transfer SIL houses to Able Australia.

We understand that this decision may cause some concern, and there are likely many questions you have about what this decision means for you and your colleagues. HACSU has dealt with transferred services before, and we will be with you every step of the way.

We are working through all the available information at the same time as you and will be talking with MCM and Able Australia to help make this transfer as smooth as possible for all members involved.

HACSU was informed of this proposed change when a Change Impact Statement was released last Wednesday 18 May 2022. We attended the online briefing session held by MCM on Thursday 19 May.

HACSU is concerned about MCM’s consultation process and the limited time frames for HACSU to consult with our members.

HACSU has found the period of consultation to be insufficient under your EBA, and we have written to MCM to notify them of this.

We have stated our expectation that the consultation period be extended, so that members are given the opportunity to get a better understanding of what the CIS means and so that we can all give feedback.

We are holding a members’ meeting via Zoom on Friday, 27 May 2022, at 1PM for members to share their concerns, ask questions, and provide feedback. We will then pass this on to MCM and request answers as a matter of urgency.

On Friday, please click this link to join the Zoom meeting;
