The recent release of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Review has ignited much conversation. The review, made public just yesterday, has made 26 recommendations, including some addressing persistent workforce challenges in the disability sector.

Key Focus Areas

Key recommendations for workforce are focuses on attracting, retaining, and training a responsive workforce as well as enhancing regulation of providers and workers. This spotlight on critical issues mirrors the collective sentiments of many within the sector—persistent shortages, burnout prevalent among worker (with a staggering 43% of us experiencing it), and particular struggles faced by part-time and casual workers.

As a specialist union, we'll always advocate passionately for reforms that will help build a robust, capable, and secure disability workforce.
