The ballot for the approval of the 2016 – 2020 Victorian public mental health EBA ballot has been declared won with over 99% of people voting yes! This is a fantastic result and evidence of the huge outcomes that have been won for the mental health workforce across Victoria!
Now that the ballot has been successful, the EBA will now need to be certified by the Fair Work Commission. Unfortunately there are no time frames for this process, however we are hoping to see this completed within the next few weeks.
After the agreement has been certified by the Fair Work Commission, members will be entitled to receive good faith and back payments. A reminder that HACSU requested these two payments will roll out across two pay cycles. This is to avoid a massive tax on these payments. The specific pay cycles in which these payments will be made depend on the certification of the EBA. We will provide members with more information as soon as possible.
Members are again congratulated on the huge effort during this campaign. The campaign spanned several months and only came to fruition when HACSU members voted to take real protected industrial action. The EBA negotiations were very slow until HACSU members began to implement all bans and most importantly took stop work action. Each and every member who participated in the bans, and particularly the stop work action, should know that this EBA is a result of their hard work and dedication to Victorian mental health services.
