Every day, unions act to protect the rights of workers across the country, keeping people safe at work and creating the best services for our community. The current union-busting bill, 'ensuring integrity' will destroy everything we're built to protect workers.

It's now or never.

We need every member to help to protect workers rights by contacting the cross bench Senators. 

We're asking all members to contact One Nation Senators Pauline Hanson and Malcolm Roberts and Senator Jacqui Lambie urging them to block this bill on behalf of all Australian workers.

All you need to do is tell your PERSONAL story as a worker in the Disability, Mental Health or Alcohol and Other Drugs sectors. The link below will take you to a website with a pre-written letter you can edit and include the following:

• That you're a HACSU member
• Your role at work
• How you contribute to your local community
• Why HACSU is important to you

We need to ensure that we're all polite in these emails. This bill has already been deeply divisive and we don't want to worsen that. In this late stage of the game, we want to ask for support for Australian workers, not call out specific Senators on their politics.

Here are some examples of things you can say:

“I'm a disability support worker who spends my days advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves. My union works hard for me to ensure that I am fairly paid and my working conditions are safe. Without these protections from my union, I wouldn't be able to support the vulnerable people I work with."

"I see the work of unions as helping the many, not the few. Unions are there for all hardworking Aussies, making sure we enjoy safe, meaningful work.”

“My union was there for me during a difficult time. They supported me when...”

Everyone has a story of being supported by their union when times are tough. Now's the time for each and every member to give back.
