Last week, The Minister for Mental Health, Martin Foley, was quoted in the Age newspaper, saying that he hoped to reach an agreement [on the new public Mental Health EBA] in the coming weeks. HACSU want to remind members that whilst we will welcome an agreement, we will not accept any offer which ignores staffing, workload and safety issues.

EBA negotiations have been continuing for a number of months now, and whilst progress has been made, staffing and workload matters and wages remain an outstanding matter that the Government need to address before we can reach agreement.

Staffing Profiles for HDU:
We are seeking agreed staffing profiles for HDU (or however called) which will ensure safety for clients and staff, and provide the best quality services.

Community Workload Management:
We are trying to agree to an effective and reasonable Community Workload Management tool which will allow community clinicians to balance direct clinical and non-clinical work.

Leave Equity:
We continue to lobby for an additional 5th weeks leave for Health professionals, drawing parity with nurses.

Wages:
Fair and decent pay rises for all classifications including administrative and support staff.

Early Intervention Support Team (Forensicare)
We have proposed a clinical response team to help address workload and safety issues at Forensicare.
HACSU, through its campaign, is fighting for the best possible outcome for all members in Mental Health

HACSU members have been taking to action to progress our claims – this action is working and the Statewide members’ meeting, last month, determined that we should escalate our action. As such our stop-work action will continue and will include stop works around the clock.

HACSU have provided the Government with a full list of claims including EFT. We have now been waiting on a response from the Government on costed items for well over a week. It has now been 9 months of negotiations with no back pay, we have called a state-wide stop work and rally to demand an agreement from the Government!
